The story

Three things worth knowing.

The rejection isn't about expertise

Platforms turn away the large majority of credentialed professionals who apply. Almost never because they lack domain knowledge — because nobody taught them the form the work takes. That is a teachable gap, and it is the whole thesis of the school.

Nobody was teaching this

No AI-data vendor or laboratory runs a genuine education program for the experts it depends on. The nearest comparable offering is a generalist self-paced course at $249. The gap is real, and it is the reason the school exists.

The work is growing quickly

The AI training-dataset market was valued at $3.2 billion in 2024 and is projected to reach $16.3 billion by 2034, a 20.5% CAGR (Global Market Insights). Roughly 100,000 expert-tier AI trainers were working as of February 2026 (Bloomberg).

He holds a J.D. earned magna cum laude in the top one percent of his class and an M.B.A. earned summa cum laude, and has more than twenty-two years of professional experience advising over one hundred companies on more than seven billion dollars in transactions. He has since worked as a legal subject-matter expert, reviewer and auditor on frontier AI training-data programs — producing the work and grading other experts' work. He founded The SME Standard after watching highly credentialed professionals fail assessments for structural reasons nobody had explained to them. He also leads the advisory practice Fidem Praxis.

On the earnings figure

Our materials cite one founding instructor who earned more than $400,000 across twelve months of expert AI-data work. That is one senior practitioner's documented result under specific market conditions. It is not typical, not a projection, and not a promise, and we would ask that it never be reported as a figure students can expect. Published expert-tier rates run roughly $75–$200 an hour.

On student outcomes

We have no student outcome data of any kind, and any story implying we do would be wrong. The product went on sale before anyone had finished it, which is the honest position for a new school. We have committed to publishing outcomes when they exist, including the ones that do not flatter us.
